An example of a rear underride guard completely ineffective to protect passengers of colliding cars. The "delicate" hinges will collapse immediately and truck will be lifted to the level of the car's windshield.

A truck with a relative long extension overhang and an useless underride guard.  Results from an eventual collision would be tragic.
