Bio

I am a Control & Automation Engineer, Professor with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), in Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil, since 2010. Previously I was a research scientist at the Federal Research Center Renato Archer (CTI), also in Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil (1997-2009). In CTI-Campinas I was co-responsible for the modelling, simulation and control of the AURORA airship, which in year 2000 made the first autonomous flight of an unmanned airship of the scientific literature.

Research Projects

Currently, I lead the Project VERDE (Electric Robotic Vehicle with Electronic Differential), 2014- 2016, related to the construction and automation of an electrical mini-Baja type vehicle. I am also a research collaborator of Project DRONI (Robotic Airship with Innovative Conception), 2014-2017, conducted by CTI-Campinas. Project DRONI aims at designing and constructing an autonomous airship (10 meters long) with 4 electric engines to be used in a pilot flight, as a proof of concept for environment monitoring in Mamiraua reserve in Amazon.
